Hey everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Cassie and I am 19. I am from the U.S., but my family and I currently live in Mexico City, Mexico.
I am an animal lover, am currently studying to be a vet. asst., and own a small zoo (so to speak). I am the proud mommy of:
Charlie and Lucy (Parakeets)
Chacho (Syrian Hamster)
Sushi (Male Betta)

and my newest addition
A baby RES!!!

To be very honest I don't know much about them. But we have markets here (kind of like flea markets) and the turtles are kept in horrible conditions. Like an inch of water in 3 gallon tank. :shudders:
So I went to the market today and saved one of the little guys.
He's absolutely adorable and very very active.
I have him in a VERY basic set up, because I couldn't find much for him in the store. Most of the things will have to be ordered from the U.S. But I am on it.

Here is my little one:

Any thoughts on names??

Greetings and welcome! When you see what your turtle's personality is like a name will probably come to you. You won't know for a long time whether you've got a boy or a girl, so you can't narrow it down that way. Here's a link where people told about all the various names they picked for their turtles:

Well, I think I decided on Franklin. I know that it may not be a boy, but I need something to call it until I find out for sure. Plus, I loved the show Franklin as a kid.

LOL Josie...nope not private at all! It's wonderful that you are coming to Mexico. It's a beautiful country. Just don't expect to buy in pet products here. Sadly, we don't have much. :-(

Welcome. Franklin...if it turns out you've got a female, you could call her Frankie (as in Frankie and Johnny). But Franklin will do just fine (I call my male RES Tilly).

I knew of a male RES named Lulu. He was named when he was young and the name stuck.
