Hi
I'm Mark Steeves and have acquired a 15 year old red eared slider She is about the size of a small diner plate and seems to be healthy.
I have experience with many lizards but non whaty so ever with turtles. So I am very glad you are here.

Hey Mark! Welcome to the forum! :D It sounds like you have a very nice healthy turtle. Did you adopt her? There's a lot of excellent information in the links at the top of the page about Basic RES Care, Nutrition, Tank Setup, Health, etc. Definitely take some time to look it over cause it's pretty surprising, all the misconceptions that are out there about these guys. Most people don't realize what they really need to be healthy.

What kind of lizards do you have? I'm breeding Bearded Dragons (just had 12 more eggs hatch out today). I also have a Timor Monitor, a bunch of snakes, frogs, a gecko, chameleon and my 3 RES. I love herps! :D

Welcome to the forum Mark. It's nice of you to have taken her in so you can give her a good home. What's her name by the way? Got any photos?

Yea, you got a nice collection of reptiles there. That's really cool that you're breeding Jackson's too. Are the Veileds also breeding? I really like some of the color patterns on those guys. I hope you can post some pics in the Photography forum.

I got my RES the same way as you, from some guy on craigslist. He kept the 3 turtles (1 7" female and 2 4" males) in a 40gal breeder tank with a bark substrate and a dishpan for water. The poor guys were sitting at the bottom of the dishpan when I went to pick them up and I couldn't even see them cause the water was so filthy like a cesspool. I can't believe the way some people think so little of their pets.

Well, glad to have you on board! :) Talk to you soon!

The male vailed is five months old and the female is just about 3 months old I will try to get some better pictures of him but I have to sneak up on him he is very cranky!!! and tries to bite me when I feed him. I never never hold them or my Jacksons. I think my female Jackson is a pregnant But will have to wait a while
