Hi. My name's Melissa (you can all call me Mel). I recently got an RES from a friend who couldn't take care of it. I've never had a turtle before, so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. But for now I'm just introducing myself. My username is actually my turtle's name...which sounds really dumb, I know. It's an inside joke. I usually just call him (her? it?) "Turtle".

Hi Mel! Welcome to the forum! How big is your RES? Hope you can post some pictures.

Have you had a chance to read the "RES Basic Care" sections from the links at the top of the page yet? There's a lot of really helpful info on what basic necessities are required for a RES.

Hi, thanks for the posts. Yeah, I read a lot of the Basic Care stuff. Not all of it yet, but most. I've started getting an awesome tank together for Baby. He's about 3 1/2 or four inches long, I guess. I posted a more detailed description of the tank he has on the habitat forum. That's my biggest concern right now.
