Hi All,
I do a full water change once a week, clean my out side filter. Is there any reason to do more. I scop out the poop with fish net.
My tank are very simple, no rocks, no plants. There is a water heater, lighting, and platform for basking also they can hind under the platform.
My Turtles are large now, two are 16, one is about 4, each have there own tank.
I have many more questions, one a time is OK. with me.

I don't do that much cleaning with mine! LOL I scoop out an big junk, and rinse the filter media {one media a week} once a week. Then fill any evaporated water and thats it. Like a fish tank you need to build up good bacteria to eat the bad and keep the tank clean. Every six months I will drain the tanks, soaking everything in bleach water and scrubbng the tank and then setting it back up. They sell stuff to get the good bacteria in there at most fish stores.

Water changes may depend on the amount of water you have. The larger the water volume, the less frequent the changes. Additionally, the better the filtration, the fewer water changes you would need to do.

I Do not have large tanks, I have 30 gallons tanks the ones made for the turtle with the one slide that is sorter for the out side filters. I leave just enough water in the tank for the bacteria. Beleive after a week the tanks are very smelly. The male turle is the worst of all, althought the famale is much larger her tank stay cleaner longer then the males.
The USB, I have good and bad things about them. That the light that kills bacteria and parisites. I would make an indoor pond if all three could live together. I have been though the turtle courtship, once was enough. I think they need about five acres of space to live with one another.

Question: you have 2 adult turtles plus one 4-yr-old turtle and each turtle lives in a 30-gallon tank? Just curious.

I think its more than one 30 gallon tank cause Evelyn mentioned 30 gallon tanks, i certainly hope so anyways, or else that will be one crowded tank
