Hi, my name is Cassi, just recently was given a red ear slider, who I named Ozzy. Not really sure how old it is, or if it's a boy or girl. I don't really know anything about turtles yet, so any help would be much appreciated! I'm pretty sure Ozzy's an adult, it's about 6 inches long.

Welcome to the forum! Does Ozzy have really long front toenails, or are his front toenails about the same length as his back ones? Once they mature at about 4" in length, the males get long toenails, the females' stay short. That's the easiest way to tell the boys from the girls!

There's lots of good reading on this site. I'd recommend doing some reading as a good way to get started.

He's definately a boy then. His front toenails are way longer than the back.
