Hi, I'm Schmo,

I'm glad my owner found this website; cause I didn't think I was gonna make it through another winter. Because of what he learned here I now have room to frolic and best of all my water is kept a nice even 75 degrees!! He used to feed me lots of ground beef and shrimp :D but now he only feeds me those green pellets and lettuce  ... anyway he's trying his best and I feel pretty good nowadays. I hear him all the time talking about a bigger home and a better filter but I don't quite understand it all. But we're learning together!

Welcome. Nice set-up (that's a combo MVB, I'm assuming). I see a nice relaxed turtle that's going to shed!

No, afraid it's just a 'regular' lightbulb for heat. Up until last week it was still warm enough here in Oklahoma to take him outside a day or two a week for some sunlight. I orderd the ReptiSun 10.0 UVB compact fluorescent and a better filter and they should be here tomorrow.

Yes he is shedding (the pics are a couple of weeks old). A few days ago he calmly let me peel off several large pieces so he looks a lot cleaner now.

That is a good pic of shedding. FYI, you don't need to help it come off but it should be OK with those pieces that are almost off.
