i was keeping my turtle in a bowl and it got out four weeks ago. on the day it got out i had left the front door open for ten minutes and so we thought that it got out of the house. we looked inside the house for three days but couldn't find it.

two days ago, my husband found it on the bedroom floor. it could barely move. i'm not sure if it has eaten anything. i watch her at night when i get home from work and i haven't seen her eat. (btw, i'm not sure if it's a she.) the food that i place in her bowl breaks down into smaller pieces and i'm not sure if she's eaten any of it.

she is definitely much better now than when we found her but she is not back to her old self. first of all, she doesn't seem to be swimming properly. her hind legs seem to be stronger and when she thrashes around in the water, it just spins her body over and over. the water level is low enough so that she could stick her head out when she needs to breath.

she is young, only about 1.5 inches long. we have two other turtles that are both about 3 inches long and they are in a tank, which we just purchased last week. i would like for her to be able to join them.

Welcome, Lita.

Your baby turtle will not be able to join your other turtles until she is about their size or you risk having one of the larger turtles injure her.

What do you mean by "keeping my turtle in a bowl"? At 1.5 inches, she should be in at least a 20 gallon tank with basking lights (UVA, UVB and heat) and a place to bask.

Hello, you will need to provide a more adequate setup, especially at that age and the current health situation.

the bowl was only temporary. i did know that i had to go out and get a tank, which i have, but as i mentioned, there are two larger turtles in it right now. this site has been very helpful. i had no idea the size of the tank i needed but now i do :o)

She definately will need a better setup. You may want to have her checked out at a vet to be sure she doesn't have anything wrong with her.

needs a better setup. and young turtles are Highly susceptible to stress that could cause undue frights and ilnesses.

I'd keep an eye on her
