Hi: I'm from CT and my daughter gave me 4 baby red ear slider turtles....three survived and are now into their third summer......I already went through two tanks and they are now in the last tank I can possibly fit in my kitchen. I heard that they will not grow any bigger than their environment let them.....Is that true?

Short answer is no. The only reason they may not outgrow their tank is malnutrition or other illness. How big are they now? Males max out around 9 inches, females get about 12 inches. And, of course, the 10 gallon per inch of shell applies. Worst case scenario is you'll have 3 females. That's about 36 inches of turtle that will need at least 360 gallons of space.

What do you have them in now?

Welcome. :) Where are you in CT? How big are your turtles now and how big is their tank?
