:D Hi! I'm from Phoenix. Arizona and I recently got my baby turtle from friends that were given him away. I've always said that if I had a turtle I would name it Turquoise.
I believe mine is still a hatchling, and I've been reading up on its care.
I'm trying to set up his aquarium for him. But un fortunately I depend on my parents and they are really not so trill about the whole thing, so it might be a while till I get him his uvb light, :( which has me concern. My mom also caught me cleaning my 20 gallon aquarium, and told me that I schouldn't use it because my turtle is too small for it.
but I'm planning to set it up tomorrow against her will

So far my Turtle has been doing well, it eats and is active but not hyper. So I believe thats a good health sign since I've read hatchlings are prone to sickness. I try to control its water tempature and not let it get cold.

My avatar is a picture of it, :D its him swiming for the first time without holding on to the rocks for support, made me so proud. The previous owners had him in shallow water, so I introduced him to deeper water.

Welcome! I'm glad you are doing some reading. If you have any specific questions you can ask in the appropriate section.

I would say that if it is going to be awhile before the UVB, make sure that your turtle is getting outside for some sunlight. UVB is important to the health and well being of your turtle.

Your turtle is not too small for a 20 gallon tank! As a matter of fact, the 20 gallon tank will be too small for him soon. Res's love to swim, so fill it up and watch him go!
Btw - how big is he? :)

His about 1 in or 1 1/2in.
And yeah, thats what I told my mom, about the aquarium.
I'm going to have to start saving now if i'm going to upgrade in the year to come :)

I'm sure you read the "10 gallons of water per inch of turtle", so technically even a 20-gallon tank is just barely adequate. Yes, start saving! Have fun!
