Hi. I'm sure this story has been told often here, but I'm offering it once again.

I bought a turtle today, not knowing the extent of care required. I got a nice tank, complete w. everything needed (filter, light, etc.). Got the rocks, a couple of plant bulbs, some guppies (he's about 4 1/2 inches long, so I'm assuming he'll eat more of these).

After setting everything up and letting it settle, I put the turtle into the water and after watching him for a while, hopped online to read more.

I was thrilled to find this website. And I've been reading posts for the last two hours. I am now, completely overwhelmed!

There is SO much information here. It's a good thing, but a bit scary for someone starting out.

Inspite of that- I am absolutely in love w. my turtle. (I've named him Levi). I've wanted a turtle ever since I was a little kid and now I've got one.

I didn't know the extent of care required, and now that I do, I think I love him even more.

I'm glad I found this website and feel like I've been helped out a great deal already.

Welcome! I was overwhelmed at first too. It doesn't take too long for the basic facts to become second nature though.

I know this isn't a care board, and you can post your questions elsewhere, but just a quick note that you will want to remove the gravel. It's likely that your turtle will want to eat it at some point, and it can become impacted in his tummy.

It's not actually gravel. It looks like the gravel, but it's much bigger. I went and check after reading about it on another thread. The smallest pieces are much bigger than Levi's head. I think he'll be okay. I do need to raise the temperature a little bit- but outside of that, he's good to go.

I will post pictures, hopefully today.
