Hello!
I live in South Texas in the Coastal Bend area about 20 miles from Corpus Christi. I have three RES all female in a 300 gal pond. My oldest is 6 years old and her name is "Sassy" the next one I got from my MIL's friend who found it in her back yard after a flood a few years ago and kept it in a 5 gal aquarium which she couldn't move around in. Took me a couple of years to convince her this was not a good environment for her. She had shell rot and her shell is pitted even to this day. I have no idea how old she is really. Just because she's was smaller than Sassy I think of her as younger. Her name is "Miss Turtle" (Miss T for short). And my third is about 2 years old. A relative found her when she was about 3" long and decided I needed another turtle! Her name is "Scooter". Since they removed her from where she was found, I was uncomfortable releasing her into a totally different environment, since she was so young. All seem healthy. We have no available turtle vet around here. I heard of one in Corpus, but cannot seem to find him. Besides my turtles, I have a gazillion guppies and swordtails in the pond, 5 comet goldfish the largest is 10" and the smallest is 6" long, and two plecos that are 15-17" long. I am also mommy to 9-11 cats depending on the day of the week. I tell everyone I claim 9 cats and 11 claim me. LOL I enjoy scrollsawing in my spare time.
