Hi everyone! Im so happy to have an account on this site, ive been checking it out for a while and Ive liked what Ive seen. My turtle is a yellow belly slider named Squirt, and me and my sister took him in after our Dad caught him and brought him home. Right now his tanks not very fancy and he definitely needs to be moved into a bigger one, but I think he's fine until we can get him a new tank and decor.

How long does it take turtles to realize that you don't wanna hurt them? He seems shy and speeds off and hides when I get near his tank (unless ive fed him recently then he starts begging for food)

Welcome to the site! Very nice looking slider. I'd wait until you confirm the gender and you can get that forever home.

As for when they adjust, it varies. It happens pretty quick once they associate you with food
