First i want to say thank you for all who help this forum be so informative. I know that our turtles have a much better quality of life because of the information found here.
While on vacation in May of this year, my husband and I walked by a souvenir shop and saw a large tank full of small turtles. I love turtles. I have never had one as a pet, but I have lots of decorative turtles around my house and in my car. Michael decided to buy me two turtles. We named them Priscilla and Aquila. We bought the largest container they had. It was a very small plastic container with a few steps on it for a "basking area" (ha, ha, ha). They gave us an instruction sheet that was half a page long with helpful hints like "feed them one pellet a day" and "place them in the window for a few hours a day." We were told that they would not grow very much. We could just leave them in that container. We were both a little skeptical of the "instruction sheet" so we started doing our research and $300.00 later, we had an ok set up:) Aquila did not make it, but Priscilla is doing well except for a fungus hic up, which helped us to rearrange the tank and get a canister filter, not to mention I was tired of doing 75% water changes once a week. We did go back on vacation in August and rescued 2 more turtles. I wanted to get them all, but reason and sanity ruled the day. Their names are Hananiah and Mishael. We are still learning about how to take care of turtles and I thank you for participating in this forum to help us newbies learn the ropes of turtle care. More pics to follow.
