Last week i got two Red Eared Slider. I feel one is male n another female m not sure as they are very small. First day i felt they are not happy may be they were in new environment as i kept them in a Plastic Tub, whenever i went neared to them start running as if they want to hide from me, on that day they didnt ate also. Next day i got a tank with a lamp and a place where they can rest inside tank. One turtle i feel is very active time to time it goes in water and comes for resting out of water. But one always keep resting out of water many times i push in water they it swims for some time eat the turtle food and again at same place in resting area. I feel like i push then only it goes into water there is only twice or thrice i found tht turtle going into water by its own. i also feel like the turtle which rest the most is a female. They only eat the packaged Turtle food and that too when i put inside tank. Many time took them out of tank and keep in tub and put the same food there but they dont eat i also took them in sun for a while in tub wid food but they didnt ate. i dont know what i m doing is right way to treat them or not. I also put a cabbage leaf inside they ate a bite thts it. I also want to know wether i should keep the light on for 24 hrs ? presently i switch off the light of tank in night. how much time should i give them food?

Please suggest me how i can keep them happy and healthy. Please also let me all the care i can do as a beginner.

Welcome to the forum. How big are they and where did you get them?

First, make sure their water is a consistent 78-80F. You need a submersible water heater and an aquarium thermometer. Aquarium equipment should also be plugged into a GFCI outlet. How big is the tub? Get the largest you can until you can upgrade again. Let us know how big it is, then we can recommend an appropriate sized filter. Are you sure both are eating now? What are you feeding them?
