Hi there,

I am new here and have had my RES for 7-8 months now. He was about 1.5" when I got him from a co-worker. He is now 4". A week ago today I ended up with a yellow bellied slider (I think) and he was just a hatchling. My childrens friends uncle seen him hatch and as it was going to water, a bird tried to attack it so he brought it home... ended up coming to me  Last night (9-17-12) I ended up getting another RES from someone off CL that could no longer care for him/her and is about 2.3" as I was looking for a new filter for my tank. Currently I have a 55 gallon with 1 large dock and 1 small dock on either side of the tank and 2 Blue Gouramies . They live happily together :D

Here is the Yellow Bellied & my 4" RES. I do not have a picture of the 2.3" guy yet.

I will get a shot picture of it and post it soon! It looks orange with a black center almost like a painter, but the shell does not look like a painter at all. But again, to young to tell I think.

Welcome to the forum! I would keep the hatchling separate, or only put him in the main tank when he can be supervised and they are not feeding.

Ok, lets try this again.. This is Squishy's belly.. Was at my local pet store and someone thinks it might be a Paint.

He has been in the tank with Squirt for a week now and crawls all over him. Not sure why I would need to separate them. Health issues or territorial issues?

He is a Northern Red Bellied Turtle. A western painted turtle would have much more color on the top of their shells.
