My RES has the number 4 on the first spot of her shell, it can only be seen after she basks in the heat lamp and goes into the water. It is gold, probably written with a pen that you would use in construction. Any idea why someone would identify a turtle like this, she is a rescued turtle and I have had her about 6 months, she was 3.5 inches then and is 5.5 now with a hard shell and huge appetite. She appears to be healthy and happy. Any ideas? Thx

A previous owner was probably stupid and may have used her in racing or something.
