Sorry i haven't responded, I lost my laptop charger, but my turtle is, as far as i can tell, a very happy red eared slider, she swims around her tank a lot, and absolutely loves meal worms, i sometimes have a hard time telling her no when she wants them, she swims up to the side of the tank and just looks at me until i go to the refrigerator to get them out!

Also, i just noticed on my turtle, her shell is growing out, and the parts that have grown out, are black/dark green in color, is this normal for hatch lings when growing?

It could be a sign of fast growth. If you post pics if the area, we could be more certain.
