Hello everyone I am new here and have found this forum very helpful. I have had turtles for about 9 years and have had tons of fun. The first turtle I had was a Eastern painted turtle that I found at a park. I named this turtle Jimmy and had him for a couple years, about a month after I got Jimmy me friend found another Eastern painted turtle and I took it as well. I had these turtles for a few months and then I went to a reptile show and got a baby Mississippi Map turtle. About two years later I then found two more hatch-lings. This all was happening when I was in middle school and I was moving soon so my mother told me I had to get rid of all of my turtles. I gave away Jimmy and my Mississippi map, gave the second painted to a local pet store and let the hatch-lings go. While I was releasing my two hatch-lings I ran into two kid with a red ear slider that they were letting go because they had dropped a light on it and busted it's eye. I told them that I could take care of it so I took it. This turtles name is Frankie and I have had her since, she is right around 7 and is doing great. She can only see out of one eye and swims in circles trying to eat.
I have realized over the last few weeks that Frankie has not been getting the best quality life that I can provide. I have a 75 gallon tank with a Fluval plus3 filter, a heater, a zoo-med floating rock, and a heat lamp. I just discovered that Frankie was a Frankie and not a Frank so I am building a nesting/basking area and purchased a canister filter. I will be moving in a couple weeks and will be setting up my new tank setup once I have moved.
