Hello everyone. My name is Karis and I just got a baby RES named franklin. The place I bought him from said he was 2 months old and that he should eat only the pellets for about 3 months. How do you tell how old your turtle is and when do I start feeding him other things. What kinds of things should I be doing and buying for Franklin.

Id read everything from the home page over for info on housing light, etc. You will learn almost everything you need to know and then if you have any specific question we can help you. You should start right away with, veggies like green leaf lettuce, red leaf leatuce, or romaine, there other good options too you will find on the home page under nutrition.

As for age, unless you hatched the turtle. There is no way to tell. If the turtle has no look of growth to his shell and is about the size of a quarter maybe a little bigger then he probably is is about a month to 2 months old like he said. You get a turtle any bigger then that from a petstore you will never know their age.
