Hello,
I have 2 red-eared sliders that I acquired 2 years ago. One is a male and one female. They're are great pets and I really enjoy watching them.
The only problem is finding accessories and sometimes food here in Ontario (turtles are not legally sold here). I spent a small fortune special-ordering a basking platform for them last summer (LOL, they're worth it though)
I hope to be able share stories and perhaps get som useful advice here.

yes, they are really good.
try petsmart.com, they ship to canada, and talk to jen, she's in canada, and can probably throw you to some shops

There are a select few shops that actually carry turtle supplies here. Petland and Petsmart are the main two. I also have to order most accessories online. Turtle food is plentiful tho. Mainly it's hard to find the docks. As far as plants, river rocks and such, I get those all at Petland. I find the plastic plants made for terrariums (with suction cups on them) hold up quite well in the water. I get my river rocks at the dollar store for $1 a bag. What is it that you're having a hard time finding?

Check out Little Rays Reptiles on South Bank.. I'm talking way South Bank.. Near Vernon. Loads of reptile stuff.
I unfortunately don't have my turt anymore, long story, and would be willing to part with some stuff if your interested in anything. You'd have to travel out here to Almonte as well! :]
I'm looking to sell my 50 gallon tank. It's served me well. PM me if yer interested.

I will definitely check out some of the Ottawa-area pet shops that some of you suggested. The main thing that I am having trouble finding are accessories. As I mentioned, the docking platform was quite difficult to track down. Food is easier to buy, however the closest pet shop to me tends to be hit and miss (depending on when I go).
I usually stock-up on food, treats, and calcium blocks when I do go.
Thank you Adam for your offer. I will let you know about the tank. I currently have a 20 gallon (long) tank but I expect that I will eventually need to upgrade if they keep growing as fast as they are now.
