Hey everyone ^_^ I'm Matryoshka.
On my fourth birthday, I was given a very dear present - a Red Eared Slider baby. I immediately fell in love with that little baby, and it was about nine years old until my little cousin came over and lost it last year. The lovely female's name was Tilly o_o
I have been lurking around this site since last week and today, I decided to bug my dad into getting me a RES. Having two little siblings, my dad insisted we get three (Which i wasn't too keen on; my sisters were just impulse-buying. The responsibility of the three would be thrown to me in due course.)
Once I move my pair of angelfish into the pond (We're going to build a barrier to separate the smaller portion of the pond from the bigger one) , I'm going to use the fishtank for my three babies. They are currently living in a circular plastic container thing I bought from the Aquarium shop, which has a small raised island in the middle, with a plastic bridge, fence on one end and a small plastic palm tree. There's also a ramp, which i find extremely space consuming as it almost reaches the wall of the tank.
My three little babies are differed by their color, as that's the most obvious characteristic (physical). I was going to name the lightest Sunny, the darkest Stormy/Storm, and the other one Peace, but it would be awkward if Peace turned out to be a male, or Storm a female.
'Peace' seems to be a rather talented hunter. The two guppy fry I caught for my pets were devoured by Peace. Maybe I should name it Hunter.
Stormy loves to hide under the bridge, while Peace and Sunny hang out together c:
Maybe I should name Sunny 'Circus' , she's a funny little thing.
Yeah ^ _ ^ I allowed them to take a little walk around a small enclosure I fenced with Lego pieces, at first, to let them settle down. And I guess they were too busy trying to find an escape.
Maybe I should use that old kiddy pen when I let them out to walk.
While i was changing the water of the Angelfish tank , I filled 1/4 of it with water and allowed the terrapins to swim (Without the Angels!). They seemed pretty interested in the bubble air pump o_o
Yeah :)

(Yep. That's my nickname C: )

Hi, welcome to the site! I have my hands full with just 2 RES, so that is a lot of responsibility you now have. How long until the pond is ready? How big is the aquarium?

Hey Steve, the aquarium is 30x40x40cm long . I think it's too small though.
What size aquarium should I get for 3 of them?

For 3 RES, you will eventually need a huge aquarium, at least 150 gallons (567 liters) probably more. However, they won't need that much space for quite a while. The general rule of thumb is you want 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length. You need to add all of the shell lengths together, but give the additional turtles only half the length. , so 2 2 inch turtles would need 2+1+1 = 4 inches of carapace = 4 * 10 gallons = 40 gallons of water for 3 2 inch RES. You do the math for larger turtles.
5 inch RES male named Jordtim
Hardware: 75 gallon tank (21"H X 48"W X 18"D), FX5 filter with veipacray media setup, pool filter sand substrat, TurtleSafe halogen heat/UVA lamp and ReptiGlo 5.0 UVB lamp in ZooMed Dual Dome Fixture.

Each of them is currently about 5cm long now, which is about 2". They are currently living in the aquarium until I can find a larger, permanent home <3
