My mother purchased two dime store turtles when my brother was two years old. One died but the other has lived on and on and on. My mother is now 86, my brother 63 years old. That makes Pokey 61 years old as our best calculation. Seems amazing to us. Is he the oldest dime store turtle alive?

Actually its just a dollar store, im sure you heard of that. They started out as being called five and dime store and then later renamed to dollar stores in the 20th century because obviously nothing could be sold for that cheap any more. It wasnt really that long ago. Money inflation keeps going up and up. Even you should notice things keep going up more and more in price.

my dad was born in 1930's and he remember going to the movies including popcorn and a soda pop for 10 cents! His first car cost $2000 brand new (56' BelAir)! How about that for inflation?!

Heck, I remember when I was paying 80 cents a gal. for gas, I'm sure a few of you guys remember that to!!!! And that was in the 90's less than ten years ago!

Just make sure your savings keeps up with inflation rates. I think old dime stores were more like convenience stores and 99¢ stores are replacing convenience stores. I guess they serve a role, but a lot of the stuff is complete garbage.
