So I am new to the site and can't believe I never found this before. I will be the first to admit that I had no idea what I was doing almost 2 years ago when I bought Penelope (soon to be Pete after discovering the gender page) from... I am ashamed to admit... apparently illegal "chinatown". When I came across the stand it was love at first sight! He was flaming green and only about the size of a quarter which I now know to mean he was illegal. I feel awful after spending 4 hours reading this entire site front to back. Armed with so much information I am making clear plans to change some of my evil ways though. The only thing that I am glad to report is that through trial and tribulation, misc people and books I have managed to learn most of the important things regarding the basics of how to care for him but there was a whole wealth of information here which I had no idea about and will clearly improve his way of life. I am so glad I stumbled upon this site!
First things first... Name change, bigger tank, *less food*, more veggies!
Biggest mistake thus far... he is a huge begger, even bigger pig and I had no idea I was overfeeding.
