Hi! I'm a new owner to a 4 inch RES. It was initially for a friend of mine but it was too big for her tank and almost gave her baby RES a heart attack so I took him/her in. I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things such as feeding, filters, water changes and tank accessories. I know the current tank I have is too small but it will have to do until I get some more money.

Welcome to the site :D

(And a rough guess right now - leaning towards it being a "her" - a good tail shot will confirm or deny)

very nice :)

I'd also guess your turtle to be a girl based on the fingernails. But if you could get us a shot of the underside at the tail it would be awesome and we'd be able to tell you exactly what it is :D

Here's a picture of the underside.

Also, when do turtles reach sexual maturity? Reptar has been going crazy in her tank and I don't know if its because she has eggs or not, I tried to examine her but she wont really let me. i figured i would just get a container and put some dirt or sand in there and see is she does drop any eggs

Im saying you have a girl :D (get ready for a big one ;))

And as for sexual maturity its an age guess (roughly of course) and if she is doing things out of the norm, and spending alot of time digging she is looking for a nest
