Alrighty... First off, hi to all my new turtle friends!! :D I honestly never thought I'd own a turtle... lol I'm more the furry, cuddly type... But I find myself with a rescue turtle, and here is it's story...

I was at work this past friday, February 11th... Some co-workers had made some comments about a turtle on the boss' desk, but I didn't think anything about it... Then one made the comment at the end of the day that she was gonna go clean out the turtle's cage, cause it was dirty... I then realized that there really WAS a turtle on the boss' desk!! After seein' the baby turtle, I knew that it couldn't be left unattended over the weekend, and as no one knew if the boss was comin' in (he was off that day), we decided it'd be best if someone took the little guy home, and I was voted as the best choice... I texted the boss, to let him know I had the turtle, so he didn't drive 20-25 min to pick it up if he was gonna, and so he knew it was safe...

So, I took back in the turtle monday, and this is what I found out... First off, the boss is on his like fourth turtle over that past few years, and is bad luck for them... I also found out that what I thought was a baby turtle was actually 2 years old, and had been kept in the 10' long by 6' wide by 6' deep container for it's whole life, without any way to get out of the water... No light, no heater, no cleanin', and also no food for sometimes weeks at a time...

I talked to the boss, and after I told him my fears with this little guy, he told me to bring it home... And my co-workers let up one heck of a cheer, as they don't want this little guy to die, as they feel was a sure thing if the boss took it home... So now I have a RES...

It's name is a little long right now... The first lady's girls named it "Fredward" ('after Freddy from iCarly and Edward from Twilight), and told me I had to keep the name if I wanted to bring it home, as she'd kept it alive for 2 years and would continue to do so if I didn't keep the name... So, after it's nicknames from others, it's name for the moment is Sir Fredward Tucker the Third... I call 'im Tucker, personally, cause I figure that's a good name no matter the gender... :P

And now for some pics, and to see if ya'll might be able to sex it for me...
I couldn't get a good tail shot yet, sorry... :(
Any info ya'll might provide will be most appreciated... This is all new for me, but I've been doin' my research, and am feelin' like I'm on the right track... Tucker sure is a LOT happier in it's new home!! :D

Yea, good rescue. You might want to clean the shell... a gentle wipe from a paper towel or use a new soft toothbrush for a light scrub.

Well, I've cleaned it's shell by lightly rubbin' with my fingers under warm runnin' water... ^_^ But, I'll scrub lightly with one of my new brushes I got for cleanin' my hedgehog... Thank you for the tip!! :D

aww very cute. Can't tell the sex from those pics because the tail is mostly hidden. Good job taking tucker in it's always good to hear about a needy turtle getting in a happy caring home.
