Rescued turtles

My name is April and recently I accepted two Red Eared Sliders from a coworker who got them from a friend. Apparently, as so often is the case, they were told the turtles would stay small and that all they needed was water and food. Currently they are in a ten gallon tank. My husband has named them Sherman and Henry...but I still haven't determined their gender. They are pretty small (I'm estimating 2-3 inches in length) and have been the same size for 2 years according to the previous owner.
I am new to turtles but have some basic knowledge as I previously worked in a pet store. I joined this forum hoping to get some good, reliable info on care, and to get inspiration for the enclosure I plan on making for my new friends.
