I have 2 ten year old red ear sliders raised from babies and a One year old RES, raised from a baby. THe female lays eggs about once a year. never hatched any succesfully. they all share a 55 gallon tank. thats filled to the top . with a 18 inch by 2 foot area built on the side of the tank for them to sun.

Hi and welcome to the forum.....wow they must be big turtles....and only in a 55 gal tank? rule of thumb is 10 gals per inch of turtle ... mesured from shell...head to tail < minus the tail and head>

thanks ans yes they are all big she is ten or more inches he about 8 or more, even the one year old has grown to about 4 inches. The baby was abandoned and I have not found a home for her yet. And I know the size requirement but because I live in a small apt in NYC I cant go any larger. So I removed everything except for a ramp that leads to their sun space. and I fill the tank to the top. It seems to be the only solution untill I move to a bigger place, and the have max swimming area they can turn around without any problem

You may want to consider using a large Rubbermaid container and keeping this on the floor.
