I am a brand new RES turtle owner, as of this afternoon.
Like so many people that I have now read about, I am one of those that purchased a pair of small turtles not knowing the legality issues. I was led to believe that these were as large as they get. Oh well, at least I did the research in the first day, albeit after the fact. I'm determined to make a good home for these, yet to be named, little guys and all the information on this site should really help. Hopefully they'll survive the few days in the makeshift home I made them until I can get a real one. Still not sure how I'll deal with two fully grown 12" turtles (240 gallons, yikes!) but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
