Hello from Texas!
Hello all!
My name is Alicia, and (obviously) I'm from Texas. I actually don't 'own' a turtle; however, I am currently turtle-sitting for a friend for an indefinite period of time. I stumbled upon this site when I started experiencing some problems with my adoptive turtles, and find myself on here regularly these days.
As I have become quite attached to the two RES turtles I'm sitting for, I actually now refer to them as 'mine'.
I have also named them, as they didn't have names before. I call the smaller, laid-back of the two Bully (kind of like naming a chihuahua 'Killer'), and I call the larger, more aggressive one BB (for Big Boy). Not very original, but the names started as a joke and just stuck. BB and Bully have been in my possession for about 4 days now, and we have had some very trying times during those 4 days. They are somewhere between 1-2 years old, and both are male, I believe. Their shells are 4" (Bully) and 4.5" (BB). I don't know anything about caring for turtles, although that is quickly changing as I have found that these are *NOT* low-maintenance pets. I'm reading and researching on a daily basis, doing everything I can to make sure they are well cared for.
I welcome any and all feedback/tips/tricks/recommendations that any of you can provide! I'm still working my way through reading all of the information on this site. I have been on several different sites looking for information and advice; however, I find that this is by far the most comprehensive and has the most knowledgable, helpful members/staff! So - hello everyone! Nice to meet you all!
