New member, new RES owner.
Always wanted one, but never dared because of the cost entailed, and feared incapacity to care for them. This region 'recently' had changes in its legislation (I'm assuming), as the market was inundated with turtles - I was concerned for their welfare - far too many spontaneous purchases, ended up with dumped animals.
Which is exactly how I became the owner of 2 RESs, barely 2", with complete set up. (The woman bought them from the fish store, right in front of me, not a month before - I nearly laughed when I found out the classifieds I responded to, was her..)
I brought one back to the store, kept the other. The one I kept was half the size of that one, weaker, soft shell, very quiet/not active. He made it 2 weeks, and then passed away - I knew the chance was high based on his condition, and from the negligence I denoted from the woman.
Naturally, I cried.
Apparently the other turtle I gave back to the store, despite its strength, passed away also. But I did acquire another one, who's actually eating! (the other barely did, and needed coaxing).
This kid still has no name, I'm slow on the creativity, and still recovering from my failed attempt at rehabilitating my weak little guy.
Long winded, sorry.
Anyways, my name is Bianka, have a ....large family of furry/scaled/shelled critters, but new to the shelled ones
