55 Gallon tank ( not NEARLY that in water), 3 filters , 1 submersible heater, 100 watt basking light with 45 watt UVB/UVA floros

I need to get a better basking area i know...But i did buy a floro for the top that emits 6% UVB with 45 watts and the basking bulb is high with UVA and at 100 watts...So this HAS to do until i get paid again...I think its fine though for a week...

I have three filters in my tank....All were relatively inexpensive and were purchased at Petsmart (i dont like them but there close and convenient)

One is a ReptoFilter Waterfall on the left side of the tank..

Image

One on the right side shooting some bubbles for some air circulation..

And one tiny 10 gallon gallon filter in the middle just for some movement in the center...i felt that it was too dormant in the center....Plus he sticks his head under it and it looks like hes washing his "hair" :P

And the man himself...

Once you get something better for the filter, you should fill the water up more. Turtles love to swim!!
And the gravel might be a problem if he eats it. Most people don't use it in the turtle tank because if the turtle eats it it can cause intestinal problems. I can't really tell if those rocks are smaller than the turtle's head but if they are I would probably take them out.

Anywayz. Cool turtle!! He's pretty big. I can't wait for mine to grow.

Thank you so much for the feedback....one of the filters (repto filter) has a crappy minimum water level line that the tank water line rests at..

As far as the gravel they are like exactly as big as his head and ive never seen him take a chomp at them like he did the fake plants i put in there

yeah, I would for sure fill the water up a lot more. Mine was like yours for a while and then I filled it up most the way. My turtle is SO much more happier since he can swim all over. BTW, the tank actually stays cleaner with a higher water level.

When you said your filter has a min. water level, can't you fill it over the line??

How old is your turtle, he's big!

When i said minimum i must've had a typo and i meant to say "maximum" water line....

As far as his age i really have no idea...ive only had him for like 6 days and he was this size at the pet store...Is there a way to tell age?

I agree with the water level and the rocks. You can get a Rena XP3 on bigalsonline.com for $89. The rocks are dangerous and he's probably eating them when you aren't around. Plus, he doesn't have very much swimming room and the rocks are just taking up more of it. They also trap loads of guck which can raise the nitrate/nitrites to dangerous levels.

Here's how to post a pic: http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1811

Sorry, we don't have a system to host pictures... not sure if the server could take it

What you do host is a place for me to pimp out my RES though steve! Thats allllll that matters...Oh and btw...sort of ironic....my gf's car brokedown this morning and sounds like it needs a new starter (but its an older car so might just be that time...leaks and stuff etc...) And since she JUST STARTED a new job im the financially dependable person at the moment....This might delay me getting that XP3 and proper media today...might be looking at some used cars...isnt that just terrible timing?
