Hi guys! I have been reading posts on your forum for a few days now and decided to join your lovely community.

I have two awesome turtles -- a RES, Gilbert who is 7 years old that I have had since a hatchling. She turned out to be a female, so I call her Gil now! She's about 8.5-9 inches long (last measured about 8 months ago). And also a southern painted named Sim. My brother bought Sim for me from a pet store so I have no clue how old he is, but he's about 6.5 inches long. He's been in my care for 6.5 years. :D

Pictures, of course! Here are some from when I had them outside to get the natural sun this summer.

And here is Gil about two years ago (that is her old tank that I didn't have a stand for, she's been upgraded since then).

Actually, when I first got them I knew very little about the proper care and only fed them the commercial pellets (Reptomin) and occasionally some lettuce, per some little pamphelet I was given. It wasn't until much later that I came across an article on the internet that explained more in-depth how and what to feed them, and how often to do so. Now, I feed them the commercial pellets about 3-4 times a week and various vegetables on the other days, with feeder fish in the mix every so often.

Thanks for the compliments!

You really have beautiful turtles. Gil have a similar shell pattern with Chiuhui. I remember a tread that they are trying to find what type of RES is shiuhui. Maybe you can check her out.
