i have Big Mama, Shelly, and Patches. i was able to save them from terrible pet store owners who didn't know anything about them. all 3 had bacterial infections and long algae on their shells. after i got the algae off we had to medicate their lesions but they are much much better now. yay!

Rescuing them from the store is good for them because you may have prolonged their lives, but by doing that, you are supporting their horrible treatment (by giving money to the store) and you are allowing them to buy new animals and do the same thing to them. So while it's hard to see animals like that, it's usually not the best decision to save them, unless you plan on saving their entire stock.

well what happened was i got one baby RES (his name was Sam) from them about 2 months ago and Sam didn't move or swim much. he barely ate and then he passed away the very next day. so after have reasearching for a while i was so upset to realize that they sold Sam to me sick and that it was their fault. because they didn't know how to care for them. ALSO that they were ileagle to sell at the time. so i went back to tell them and so they started just giving them away. i wanted to take all of them but i knew i only had room for 3.

Welcome to the forum! :)

So did they stop selling turtles now at that pet store? That's cool if you got them to stop. ;)
