Well since I'm always lurking and reading/learning from the boards I figured it was time to introduce myself!

Hi I'm Nikki ! I just got my first RES yesterday. I had been planning, learning and prepping for my new baby for over a month. I finally got her/him. I haven't even named it yet. I gotta see it's personality first :)

a quick intro...I've been keeping fish for several years now (I have a 55 gallon community tank and a 10g. beta tank) and have a 13 y/o cat..so it was time to add a new pet into our lives.

so far the new turt seems to be happy and healthy. "He" is about 3-3.5 inches and was rescued from the street. It makes me so proud to know that it was a rescue (kinda the same way I got my cat so many years ago) Within 5 mins of being in the tank he snacked on a snail, he even ate some leave lettuce last night and seemed to love it! I'll post some pictures after he settles in a little more.

In a nut shell that's my turtle journey so far...I look forward to meeting new people and learning as much as I can about these fascinating animals!

Welcome! Can't wait for pics :-)

Was he somebody's pet that was let go?

Jenaero- I was told by the foster mom that he was turned into the animal shelter after someone found "him" cruisin' down the street. He's really sweet and doesn't mind being held. I'd guess he was a pet.

tenodera~thanks for the welcome :)

A belated welcome. :) He certainly sounds like a pet that either escaped or or was stupidly let go my someone. Either way, it sounds like he's going to have a good life with you.
