I've been debating what to do with my ten gallon, but definitely want to get something growing in there, and I do want to rescue a betta or get a couple of African dwarf frogs.

Heres my 10 gallon planted tank with Lizardman, the betta!

Hehe..he's a cool little fish. I use to grow a lily in there too but it was just too big so I am growing it outside now. Why do people put bettas in 1 gallon tanks? Lizardman swims all over the place!

I ended up putting a dwarf frog in my 10 gallon -- I want to include some live plants in both tanks but it looks like I'll have to order online as the selection at my local chain stores was quite pitiful. I also messed up by not buying both of the frogs I wanted at the same time so now when I get another I'll have to quarantine it for two months. I think we'll be getting a separate betta as my roommate wants one and I already have four pets in this place.

Have you checked garden centers or local ponds?

Shipping on plants is insanely expensive. It says you live in San Antanio so I imagine there should be quite a few small pet shops. Have you checked them? Also look on Craigslist ..some times people grow the plants and sell them on there right out of their tank. Also, ask on Facebook! You may be surprised at how many people on your Facebook have plants and are probably willing to snip some for you (you have to snip anacharis and water sprite because it grows so fast any way! then you just throw it in water and roots grow).
