he does have 3 corners of the tank that the gravel is higher so he is out of the water to dry out and bask..I have one of those basking platforms that everyone has but he kept trying to get stuck under it since the water level is so low and he tried lodging himself between it and the glass...so im waiting till the water is alot higher to put it in...I have yet to get a uvb light cause i been pricing them i might take him outside for a little bit tomorro to get some sunlight

You don't need to wait, getting the water level as high as it can be is good.

You don't need to be worried, Myrtle's natural instinct will kick in and he will have no probs swimming. They aren't like mammals, they don't need to learn. It's instinct.

Welcome to the forum! Very cute turtle, I'd make sure you have a water heater in that tank. It's good to keep temps a stable 78-80 for hatchlings.

lol s/he is so cute. i just got twigg some fake plants for her to play around in and she hasntstoped climing around in em and swimmign all around and threw them and she has thios little space beinf them she hids its so cute
