I've been lurking around this forum since the beginning of October when I found my turtle. I'm very glad you guys are here. I knew nothing about turtles when my dog was barking at a "rock" in my driveway. I took the turtle put her in a box and looked it up on-line. Found out it is a RES. I live in the Bronx, NY so I shouldn't be finding turtles in my driveway. I ran to the pet store and got what I needed to start. She had a 20long UVB and basking light, heater and a cheap internal filter. I fell in love the last couple of months. For Christmas I got a 55 long, XP3 and a bigger heater. I'll post pics soon. I had to name her Rocky because my son insists she's a he. Just based on her nails she's a she though. I do some dog rescue, I currently have three, so I never thought I'd fall so hard for a reptile. Thanks for being there to teach me what I needed to know. She's currently 3.75in she's grown a half an inch since October. Her water temp is 75 degrees and her basking area is 85 to 90 degrees. Soon my husband will build me an ATBA, so I can fill the tank all the way. Right know it's filled to 75%. She gets half a head = 4 Reptomin pellets a day and veggies in the evening, red or green leaf lettuce or romaine, sometimes carrot slivers. Please let me know if I should change anything. Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
