Not new exactly......been lurking for awhile. It is my first post though. To this point I've been "Soaking" up as much info on my little guy as I can. Got plenty of great advice here. Thanks to everyone for that.

Welcome to turtle talk :)

There's a LOT of info on here that's for sure. You sound like me, I think I read and read some more before I ever posted myself.

So, how many turtles, size etc. do you have?

Again, Welcome :)

Thanks for the welcomes. cam722 I only have one little 1.5" RES. His/her names DA. Everyone says it's a no-no but he's in a 75 gallon aquarium with about 2 dozen assorted fish. No deaths so far........LOL. Make no mistake he's the star attraction. I'm going to see if I can get a couple of pics to work.

75 gallon is a great size to start off with, more room the better. What kind of fish do you have in with your turtle?

The only no-no I see is maybe the gravel. Turtles have been known to eat it and if it doesn't pass they could need surgery. Other than that, if the setup includes all the neccesities for DA (uva/uvb, basking dock etc) I don't see a problem. I know he probably enjoys the room he has to swim.

Lucky turtle and quite a nice set-up. The gravel is larger than his head? If so, it should be OK for now.

I'd love to see the basking area. :)

Really cute little guy you have there.. and quite the lucky one too. It's nice to see someone starting out the right way.. (I wasn't one of them btw..) The gravel is ok for now, but you want to keep an eye on it.. it should be bigger than its head. What sort of filter/heater/lighting/basking do you have?

As for the fish, they are alive for now.. haha. Best of luck.. :)

Oh and btw, you can call me Carol.

I know the gravel is somewhat of an issue. I already had the tank setup when I got the turtle. We watch him and, for now at least he's to small to swallow any.

Fish are 2 pleco's, 5 tiger barbs, 3 cory cats, 2 danios, 4 tetras, and several assorted others.

The tank has 2 emperor 400s, 2 bubble stones and a smaller pump that was in an old aquarium that was given to me. I bought a uvb flourescent bulb and DA has a 40 watt basking lamp.

Here's a pic of the whole setup and a couple more of DA.

The last one is what I used for my avatar.

Nice tank shot and cute turt. My RES has some of the same plants (I'm assuming at least some of yours are plastic). :)
