My name is Christi. I'm a senior in college, actually one semester away from graduating. I have had my red ear, Michelangelo (Mikey for short) for two years and I just found this site. I'm really excited to finally have a forum completely dedicated to the love of turtles. :D

Oh wow!!! She's beautiful. Yes I'm getting one. It's taken almost six years, but I've finally convinced my fiance to get one with me. We are going to set up the tank over the next few months and get a baby from the herp show in december. I'm super excited about it.

Nice! We got ours at a local pet store that has a really nice reptile section. She was only 18" long when we got her about 5 years ago. She's now 7ft long and doing great. She's always been extremely friendly from the day we picked her out.

That's what I love about them. I've always loved bigger animals, and with RTB's you don't have to worry so much about bites and things (as long as you're not an idiot of course).

What type of enclosure do you keep her in?

I built a wall unit with four separate enclosures. Hers is 6ft long by 2ft wide by 2.5ft high. The smaller enclosure next to hers is for a female Ball Python and the two enclosures below are for my breeding group of Bearded Dragons (1 male and 4 females). The entire unit is 8ft long by 2ft wide by 6ft high.

I feed her 2 Jumbo frozen/thawed rats once a month. She's never used her hides before so I stopped providing any once she grew more than 3ft. That picture of her is a couple of years old, BTW. She's bigger now.

When they're babies you should feed them 2 to 4 properly sized food items at a time. It's good to wait a couple of days after the baby has defecated before feeding again. Some people like to "power feed" their boas but I don't think that's healthy for the snake. As an adult, I spread her meals out further apart. This gives her some time after digesting and defecating to get some exercise (inside and outside her cage) before eating again. In the wild an adult boa can often go months between meals.

Oh yeah definitely. I've done loads of research and made my own caresheet (more for my bf than me, lol). I'm kind of nerd when it comes to herps. That is so weird that she doesn't like to hide, guess she's really comfy in her home.

I like that your herp cage looks like an entertainment unit, instead of sitting around watching tv, you can watch your animals. lol

I can't wait to get a herp room. In about a year, Mikey is getting his big cage, so I'm going to move to a first floor apartment (right now I'm on the second) only because I'm a little nervous about putting like eight hundred pounds in one spot. And when I move I'm getting an extra room to convert to a herp room.

Yeah it's one of many, it's on my left leg just above my ankle.
