Hi all! My name is Laurie. I recently puchased what I think is about a 2 year male old RES for my girlfriend. His name is Duckie, my 4 year old son gave him that name. This is the first turtle I have ever owned and I've found this site very helpful in setting up the appropriate environment for him. If I had listened to the people at the pet store I'm sure Duckie would have been quite unhappy but i think i have everything in order now thanks to you all and this site. Really i just wanted to say thank you for all the great advice. And you'll probably be hearing lots more from me.

I thought so too. At the pet store when i bought him they told me he was a girl but after reading and looking at pictures of males and females I was pretty sure i had a boy.
