Hey guys whats going on.

I'm completely new to the whole res thing. My daughter won one at the carnival recently and i decided to keep it. I googled turtle and this site came up which really helped. Than two days later my friends boyfriend gave her one he had bought at a flea market. She hated it and gave it to me. The only problem now is i don't know if this is going to work.

I read most of the stuff on the page i really like these guys and make them a nice little tank home thingy. Spent about $80 for all the supplies, filter, heater, food, platform (the zoo med one). the lighting and stuff. The only problem i can see is that i bought a 10 gallon tank when i go the first one thinking it would be good. but now that i got the second one i dont know if this is good, or just good for now. im a bit tapped out of money, wasn't planning on having two of them. Is there a problem with this?

They're both about an inch big but they have a tons of differences. Lucky Throw, which is the one i got at the carnival is smaller, has a flatter shell and has this faded green color to him/her...By Chance, the one i got from my friend is around the same length but has a more of an arch to his shell. and his color is more colorful (brighter greens and yellows). Is this because he's a healthier turtle? Can anyone answer that?

Well this is a nice place for this sort of stuff, im planning on keeping mine for a long time so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. bye.

Hello, welcome.
The 10 gallon can work for a while but you're going to need a larger tank soon. For now you can fill up the tank as much as you can to give the turtles as much swimming space as possible. A good setup helps ensure good health even if it is a little small...As you may have picked up from other surprised turtle owners- it's best to get the largest tank you can when you upgrade because that eliminates costly upgrades inbetween. If a large tank is out of your budget you can always get a rubbermaid storage container and reinforce it for the time being. Sites such as craigslist and local newspaper ads are good places to check for used tanks as well.
There seems to be quite an array of colors seen in hatchlings, all are more vivd than their adult counterparts. The fact that Chance is brighter doesn't mean he's neccessarily healthier. One thing I've noticed is that growth is a good sign of health. You may want to feed your turtles separately to make sure each gets his fair share- since the conditions are a bit crowded to begin with, there's a better chance that the bigger turtle will become dominant and take more food.

Goodluck!
