Cute little turtle! Love the name! One of my turtles names' Sammy! It just doesn't have the "Ling Ling" after it, and it's about twice Ling's size. =] Hahaha  Well, go ahead and show us a full-sized picture of the whole tank! Man, 70 GALLONS is a lot for a little turtle! That turtle was blessed and I'm sure he's livin' the HIGH-LIFE! My two "little" turts (Nellz=2", Sam=3") have plenty of room in a 50 gallon, so I'm sure your turt is pretty happy! Hehehe.
Oh and also...when Sammy and Nellz were 1 inch they were about 3 months old. :) Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone, i'm so glad i joined this forum :) Here are some pics of my setup. I've got a cannister filter and two UVB spot lights (i use the self-ballasted mercury vapor bulbs made by Rep-Pro), they provide heat as well (is this ok?). Unfortunately as i was given little SAMMY as a present i was not really able to plan his setup and tank decorations well. I pretty much just spent two days reading about RESs and just went out and got what i could. I wanted originally to lay a substrate down for the plants but i've read that substrate is not always a good choice for turtle tanks. I've got some ideas of some other things i'd like to do (attach a large dock) but not sure if i should maybe wait for him to grow a bit more. The second photo is of SAMMY basking - hahaha - this is a very difficult pic to get, he's usually into the water the second i step into the room.

Wow! Pretty guppies. :) I wish I had bought those instead of my rosies sometimes... they don't bother with the rosies though so I doubt they will be able to cath the guppies! My guys aren't even a year old yet though. Man oh man I remember when they were that itty bitty and they didn't dirty the water up so quick! They grow so fast! They stay little for a bit but when they start growing it goes on and on! Hahaha. ...and with the growing comes more dirty water. Yeck.
