Wow, I've had my Turtle for almost 6 months and I just found this website.

I have no idea how old April O'Neal is! I was working at an Emergency Animal Hospital in LA when a Concerned Citizen brought her in. She had a cracked carapace and was bleeding from the mouth. The concerned citizen found her on the street in LA and thought that she might have fallen from a window or balcony from an apartment building. We kept her for a few days and no one claimed her, so I volunteered to take her, not knowing what a huge responsibility she would be!!!

I had to force feed her for the first month or two (doctor's recommendation) and now it seems hard to keep up with her appetite! Thank god I found this website when I did. I had been feeding her quite a bit, but now I see that RES are excellent actors and she makes me think that I'm starving her. Now I know better!

That is SO great that you rescued April O'Neal. I rescued Zeke but he was not in duress at the time. I was doing cat adoptions at Petco for the vet clinic I work at and someone brought him in. Wow, I have learned so much in the 6 months I have owned Zeke. He's 6 years old. Anyways, welcome to the group, you will love it here!

Thats soo AWESOME that you stepped up and took responsibility for April.
Im sure she is sooo happy.

My sister rescued my RES (Norman). She was at a mall here in MA during the summer about 8 months ago and seen a CVS bag sitting under the bench where she was having a smoke before going in the mall. She decided to peek inside and see what was in there since no one was around and it was there with her for about 15 minutes. And low and behold it was Norman. At the time he was only an inch and a half long and in a small 1 gallon containter with only maybe 2 inches deep of filty water. She called me and asked if i wanted it and i said sure. Started doing research online, found this site and everyone on it and now Norman is a very happy RES. Welcome to the site.
Lord,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change.
The courage to change the things that I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.
