Welcome! At half dollar size, I would guess he was less than year, maybe even less than 6 months old. At the end of the first year for my two turts, they were just under 4 inches each.

Do you have pics to share?

Welcome to the forum. Generally they are not sexually mature until they are at least 4". How big are your turtles? Are you sure you have a male and female? Females will lay eggs regardless of having a male with them, they just won't be fertile.

im pretty sure my youngest is buddy and is a female due to the extremely long nails. i have had her for 5 months, my brother had her for almost a year but she was neglected there.

squirt is my oldest, got him when he was super small, cant find my tape measurer but, squirt is id say 6-8 in, and buddy 4-6 in.

thanks for the info on nesting :P

i really need to get u guys some pics.

If Buddy has extremely long nails, he's a HE not a she. If Squirt has short nails, then he's the SHE.

If that's the case, you need the nesting area for Squirt, not Buddy.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)
