Thank you both for your reply. being new I am still learning the setup I like I cant seem to find the right look or supplies I want (cosmetically). so for now its quite simple. I have a 20 L tank with a basking area. I have been to afraid to add gravel I dont want them to eat it. and I had a fake plant in there which looked really nice but when I got my new baby he tried to eat it so that was removed. I have tried learning all I can but it seems everything I read says the same thing any thought or suggetions or anything you all know I would be happy to hear it.

Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't use gravel because of the reason you stated... they will eat it. But I've never had a problem with fake plants. Koopa will nip at any new one I put in but only once... I guess he's just checking to see if it's real or not. After that he leaves it alone.

Try adding a handful of larger river rock, just enough so he can have something to push around. This is what a lot of us do instead of gravel and it doesn't have to cover the entire bottom of the tank.

Welcome! Everything you read and here on here that is the same as what you've been told or may find on other sites....it's consistant for a reason : )
Be leary of what the people at petstores tell you though!

Welcome. It's best you don't add the gravel, as Sonyj stated. Besides, the less you have on the bottom of the tank, the easier it will be to clean later.

Welcome. As everyone else said, gravel is a no no...but they like River Rock to push around...(but it at a Home/Garden store) it's cheaper than at Pet stores! Browse this site, I, being a new owner myself, have learned a tremendous amount in the few short weeks I have been here.
