Hi I am a new owner and I am trying to set up my new tank. I have 2 RES. I just got them when I was on vacation last week in Flordia. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has some real useful information for a new owner. I am trying to find out how often I should feed them. I am not for sure how old they are. And I am interested in knowing what I should feed them. I have some food that I was givin when I got them. The lady told me to feed them twice a week and everything I'm finding says I should feed them more often. So for anyone who has some good info PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Feed them "once a day" only the amount that would fit inside their heads if they were hollow if they are hatchlings under a year old, for older turtles it is that amount "every other day".

Yes! Their names are Sally and Lighting. My kids named them for me. I was having trouble getting one of them to but since I put them in a tank he is eating now.

Does It take long for them to warm up to having a filter in the tank. They seem to be scared of it.

Does the filter seem kind of strong? If they are pretty small, they could be having problems swimming with it. Other than that, keep an eye on them. It could take them a few days to adjust.

What kind of filter is it? Turtles often take a bit of time to get used to something new in the tank.
