Im about to adopt a 5 year old RES, I dont know what condition its in yet, but the owner doesnt seem to know much about looking after it, and sooms very keen to get rid of it.

Make sure you don't put the new turtle in with your other 2 right away. You should quarantine the new turtle just to make sure that it doesn't carry any diseases to your other turtles. I'm sure you don't want 3 sick turtles..

It might be a very long time before you can try to put them together... you are going to have 3 turtles of potentially large size differences.

I have a second habitat set up and ready to go, Im picking it up at 1600 today it will be interesting to see what condition its in, I may have to make a trip to the VET. I will keep you posted tonight as what the turtles condition is.

Well I picked up the turtle, its a female and its shell is in bad shape but it has had somthing to eat and has been swimming and basking. When I put her in the tank within about 10 minutes there was scales and skin flaoting everywhere. Hopefully if she keeps good basking habits her shell will repair in time. I have read it takes 2-3 sheds before the signs of shell rot dissapear.
