Hi! My brother died tragically in May. He was only 30 years old and I inherited his two red eared sliders. Since they were the only living things in the room with him when he died I'm very partial to them and want them to live as long as possible. Lately, I've been wondering if they're happy. They seem very friendly and curious, although sometimes skiddish when people burst into a room. They were very scared first but now, like I said, are friendly and curious. I've joined the forum hoping to gain advice and knowledge! I only wonder if they're happy because I know almost nothing about them! So it just got me to wondering is all....it's not like they cuddle you and play like puppies. LOL

Welcome to the forum! Very sorry to hear about your brother. It's normal for them to be skittish around people and/or sudden movements. I don't know if happiness is one of their more developed emotions or if they even can feel or express it. Providing all the basics is the best you can do for a captive RES. How old are they?

How big are they? If you can figure out the genders, you will be better prepared. Males will need to be re-homed or physically separated.
