Posted: Sat Oct 04, 2014 2:47 pm Hello from Florida!
Hi! My name is Andrea. I recently adopted a little tiny turtle. My friend found him in the pizza restaurant where she works on the floor up under a table. (I guess turtles really do like pizza! Maybe he's a ninja?) I'm not sure how he got there, if he walked in or maybe was left by some kid. His eye was injured when my friend found him but it's all healed now. At first I had him in a small container with little water and no lights. :X But thanks too the many hours I've spent browsing this forum I have made some MAJOR upgrades. He now has a 10 gallon take which is just over half way full. I'm will raise the water more now that his swimming is improved once I have a way to raise the heat lamp and UVB light up. I'm afraid if I raise it more now the basking area will be too close too the light. (Any suggestions on the best distance? I still need to get a thermometer for the basking area.) he also has a water heater and filter. (I'll try to post details and pictures later.) He LOVES being able to bask and swim now! He's just over one inch maybe and I think he might actually be a Cumberland slider or some kind of RES mix? The "ears" are just the slightest bit orange, I didn't even notice them for a while and his plastron is completely yellow with just two small black spots on both sides all the way at the top. I live in North Florida, just south of Georgia so if he maybe he did originally come from they wild I don't know if that's any indication of what he might be. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and I almost forgot, little turt's name is Donatello.
