Hi All,

I'm new here, I've had my two RES since Decemeber 2011. Was on a road trip from NYC to Chicago, with my Fiance that passed away last year. We bought them together, because she loved turtles, brought them all the way back to NYC.

They were little hatchlings, now they're the size of my hand. One is slightly bigger than the other, one is ~ 6" and the other 5". Been through so many tanks, it's starting to drive me mad. 10G to a 20L, then a 60G rimless DIY. Now I had to split them up temporarily, because Im moving soon and can get a big tank yet. They're in a 60G DIY and a 58G tank separately.

Going to be lurking around for some ideas, learn more about the RES so I care better care for them.

Welcome to the forum! Very sorry to hear about your fiance. Are both RES females? It's not going to be easy having a large tank in an apartment, if thats where you're staying. Glass aquariums usually have good resale value, I found mine (90ish gallons + stand) off craigslist for $100

Pretty sure they're both female. Hoping to have an upgrade to apartment size this time around, and the ground level. If everything works out there is a possibility of building a plywood tank. Really depends on the final move. Will be lurking for some idea, hoping to do a planted tank this time around, to mimic natural habitat.

Planted tanks are great. Don't discount the idea of stock tanks either, those can be very nice (unless you want to have a clear view).
